Curfew imposed on Southern Kaduna as violence continues

A 24-hour curfew has been imposed on Southern Kaduna following an attack on Sunday, February 20 by Fulani herdsmen which resulted in the killing of about 14 indigenes.
The curfew was imposed by the state Security Council in Jema’a and Kaura local government areas and it is with immediate effect.

The herdsmen had had reportedly invaded the two local governments where they also destroyed several properties.
Premium Times reports that while the attack on in Jema’a was repelled by security officials, 14 people were killed while many others were injured Ashim village, Takad chiefdom of Kaura local government area.
The report said a statement by Samuel Aruwan, the spokesperson to Governor Nasir El-Rufai, said the curfew was imposed on the area to protect lives of the people and avoid further breakdown of law.
“Only essential workers and those on humanitarian services are allowed movement after due clearance by security agencies,” Mr Aruwan said adding that security agencies have been asked to beef up their protection efforts.

I have not defected from PDP, says Atiku

Atiku Abubakar Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said that he is still in the Peoples Democratic Party, urging his followers to disregard a rumor that he has defected to another party.
