Why Court sacked APC Rep-elect in Yola

The Yola Division of the Federal High Court has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to withdraw the certificate of Return issued to the All Progressives Congress, APC candidate, Abdurrauf Abubakar Modibbo, who won the election to represent Yola South/Yola North/Girei Federal Constituency. The Presiding judge, Justice Abdulaziz Anka on Wednesday ordered that Abdurrauf who was elected on 23rd of February should vacate the seat for the runner up on the ground that the primary election that produced him was inconclusive. The suit was filed by the current lawmaker representing the constituency, Lawal Abubakar Garba who lost the primary election to Abdurrauf. Court Orders INEC To Allow PDP, Atiku Access All Electoral Materials

A three-man panel of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja has granted PDP and Atiku Abubakar access to all electoral materials used in the presidential elections. The panel on Wednesday heard the ex-parte motion filed by the Peoples Democratic Party and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, seeking an order granting them access to  inspect the electoral materials  used for the February 23 polls. Atiku filed an ex-parte motion at the Court of Appeal in Abuja, asking for various orders of the court to allow him to access all documents used by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the conduct of the presidential election. The ex-parte motion prayed for an order compelling INEC to allow them to inspect the register and other vital documents used in the conduct of the election unhindered.

Tukur Buratai Wednesday warned those arming political thugs and militia men to achieve a premeditated end through rigging of the forthcoming gubernatorial elections across the states of the federation to desist, saying the army would be tough on them. According to Buratai the military had already received intelligence reports on politicians who are planning to use the herders/farmers crises to arm their thugs and ethnic militia to perpetrate acts of violence including bombing. “I want to state and categorically warn that the Nigerian Army will not tolerate any acts that will undermine national security.
