Apostle Suleman sex scandal: I’m now a born again After weeks of media battle with the General Overseer of the Omega Fire Ministry, Apostle Johnson Suleman, Canadaian based singer, Stephanie Otobo, said she has now handed everything to God. She said this few weeks after dropping a gospel single, adding that it does not matter to her how people will look at her as ‘born again.’ Recall that Stephanie had accused the cleric of entering into amorous relationship with her, impregnating her in the process and abandoning her. The singer also explained how she started singing gospel song even after being seen as a stripper by some persons. She said her inspiration to do gospel music came from her experience in Kirikiri prison when she was locked up by Apostle Suleman. According to her, “What really inspired me was my experience in jail in Nigeria. It was the fear and terror I lived through while in jail in Kirikiri prison. “I live in Canada and if

Type 2 Diabetes and Hearing Loss: What You Should Know

Image
People with type 2 diabetes are generally aware of potential complications like nerve damage, heart disease, and eye problems. But did you know that type 2 diabetes is also associated with hearing loss? In fact, people with diabetes have two times the rate of hearing loss as people without the condition, according to the American Diabetes Association (ADA). The link between hearing loss and diabetes isn’t well understood. One theory: High blood sugar levels cause damage to the small blood vessels in your inner ear, similar to the way they can damage blood vessels in your heart, kidney, and nerves, according to the ADA. “Diabetes affects the small blood vessels in the ear, just as it affects blood vessels throughout the body,” explains endocrinologist Kashif M. Munir, MD , medical director of The University of Maryland Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology in Baltimore. There are several reasons why it's challenging for researchers and

Japan's huge sex problem just hit a 67-year low

Image
Japan baby Ever since 1950 when Japan began tracking its population of children, the number has never been as low as it is today. New data from the Internal Affairs and Communications Ministry finds the population shrank by 170,000 kids from this time last year, to a new low of 15.71 million. This is the 36th consecutive year the population has dropped. Japan's fertility crisis has been many years in the making. As older generations start to die off without younger generations starting families behind them, economists say Japan shows all the signs of a "demographic time bomb." Without any intervention, Japan's economy will only continue to shrink. "We will continue to put efforts into support for child-rearing," welfare minister Yasuhisa Shiozaki told The Japan Times in December of last year. Japan's fertility rate is among the lowest in the world, at just 1.4 births per woman. Sociologists have found populations stay steady

Nigeria: Heavy Rain Floods National Assembly Main Building [PHOTOS]

Image
An evening downpour flooded the lobby of the main building of the National Assembly on Wednesday. The area affected is the lobby of the popular ‘White House’, which houses the chambers of the Senate and the House of Representatives. According to Punch observation, the rain, which started about 6 pm and lasted for close to 30 minutes, let in water that covered the entire protocol box of the lobby. Findings showed that the heavy wind that accompanied the rain, forced the water from outside into the lobby. A portion of the roof around the lobby also leaked water, a development that worsened the flooding. The National Assembly building is said to have suffered from lack of adequate maintenance over the years. The Clerk of the bureaucracy of the legislature, Mr. Mohammed Sani-Omolori, has launched efforts to cover the years of neglect. See photos below:

Kie said the bank has enhanced its retail internet banking platform with the Ecobank mobile app that enables customers to do instant payments; open accounts, as well as do instant transfers across 33 countries in Africa. “A

Senator Akpabio, while contributing to a debate on the peace corps of Nigeria bill at plenary, said the upper legislative chamber could not afford to pass the bill given the issues surrounding the peace corps. He argued that if the senate passed the bill, it was “going to legitimise illegitimacy” and it would be like giving a legal backing to “Honestly speaking my submission will be to support the earlier speakers, it is better for us to tread on the part of caution, when you talk about para-military organisation, we may be adding to insecurity in the nation vetting and other things have to be done before we start putting uniform on people and giving ranks,” Akpabio told his colleagues. “It is also almost like our government to make a law on MMM where youth ha

World Bank blames Nigeria’s forex crisis on fixed exchange regime

World Bank blames Nigeria’s forex crisis on fixed exchange regime Naira notes   The World Bank has blamed Nigeria’s enduring foreign exchange instability on the fixed exchange regime in the official forex market. In a publication on African economies titled: ‘Africa’s Pulse,’ the World Bank singled out Nigeria and Angola as two countries that had yet to experience stability in the forex market despite rebound in the prices of commodities being exported. The report stated, “The rebound in commodity prices and improved growth prospects in some countries have helped stabilise commodity exporters’ currencies. “However, with the Nigerian naira and Angolan kwanza remaining fixed against the US dollar, the imbalance in the foreign exchange market remains substantial in both countries.” The report also mentioned Nigeria as one of the countries in the region where there were substantial risks in the banking sect
