Legal procedure not followed when Bakassi was ceded to Cameroon – Ayade Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State has said that there was no legal procedure followed when Bakassi was ceded to Cameroon by Federal Government of Nigeria. Speaking while receiving a Presidential aspirant on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, Governor Ayade regretted that his people and government were suffering for what they did not do. He said his administration has decided to embark on unbelievable industrial development of the state irrespective of the financial situation arising from poor Federal allocation, taking of the 76 oil wells to a neighbouring state, ceding of Bakassi to Cameroon without due legal and constitutional processes. He lamented the removal or near absence of the state from the 13 percent derivation and the challenges of being an international border state with several illegal immigration borders, and faced with refugees inflow from t

Mass defection looms as 23 PDP reps set to dump party for APC

Ahead of the 2019 general elections, 23 members of the House of Representatives are reportedly set to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Daily trust reports that the prospective defectors wanted to leave because over alleged plans by their state governors to manipulate elections to favour their anointed candidates in place of seasoned legislators. States said to be affected by the planned defection include Gombe, Benue, Kogi, Enugu, Ekiti, Anambra, Cross River, and others whose lawmakers are at loggerheads with their governors. A source involved in the planned defection said this was a testament that all was not well in the PDP. The source also said the APC was promising automatic tickets for the aggrieved members. The source said: “We want to leave not because it is our wish but the governors have pushed us to the wall. “We have fought physically and mentally to defend the PDP and democracy. Despite our commitmen

An expensive wedding cancelled

Image
A Canadian woman known only as “Canadian Susan” recently got her five minutes of online fame after revealing that she had to cancel her dream wedding just 4 days before it was scheduled to take place, because guests refused to pay a $CAD 1,500 (Sh114,865) “cash gift” required to attend. The unnamed bride and her fiancée only had a budget of $CAD $15,000 for their wedding, but after visiting a psychic who told them to go with the most expensive option available, they apparently decided to have an extravagant ceremony, which they figured would cost them around $CAD $60,000. All they needed now was a bit of financial assistance to make their dream wedding happen, and who better to ask than their family and friends? After doing the math, they found that if every guest pitched in $CAD 1,500 ($1,150), they’d have enough to cover the costs. Apparently, the idea of paying a hefty feed just to attend the wedding didn’t really appeal to a lot of people. “I specifically, I mean spe

These 20 Things Matter More To Women Than How Much Money He Makes

1. Funny. We’re not exaggerating when we say that a good sense of humor matters. We need someone that makes us laugh–hard and often. 2. Affectionate. We love attention. We want you to hold our hand and brush your fingers through our hair every chance you get. 3. Intelligent. If we can’t have serious discussions with you, what’s the point in dating? We don’t want to marry a dummie. 4. Respectful. We deserve to be treated like your equal. If you talk down to us or try to order us around, it won’t be long until we realize we could do better. 5. Encouraging. When we open up to you about our dreams, we don’t want you to bring us back down to reality. We want you to motivate us to reach our goals. 6. Independent. We don’t want to be stuck doing your laundry and cooking you dinner every night. We want you to be capable of taking care of yourself. 7. Reliable. If our car breaks down, we want to know that you’ll pick up your phone to help us out. We need someone that will alway

The devastating flood

Image
A small town was hit by a devastating flood. The disaster was so severe it caused the town to drown in water and consequently many people died. Survivors climbed to the roof of their houses waiting for help since the only way to move around was by boat or whatever that could float. Some locals who have small boats started helping people moving to dry areas. One of the survivors was known by everyone in the town to be a religious man. He was alone on top of his house praying and asking God for help. Of course, he didn’t forget to thank God for rescuing him from death. During his uninterrupted praying and supplication a small boat full of people came by. A man on the boat asked him to jump and come with them but he refused and told them that the boat is too small to take them all and so he will wait for the proper help. Actually, he was waiting for the city’s big and safe boats. Unfortunately for this man he was living far from the town’s housing area and because of that he had to

9 Things You Now Have Your First And Last Chance To Do

Image
1. These are the years of choice, and you can choose to stop building and start being. You are an unfolding. Everything you are and will be is within you, you just have to be given the right circumstances to see it. Your own growth and development isn’t about you moving away from who you once were, it’s about peeling and stripping off the layers of the ego that you crafted around yourself as a defense mechanism. Your 20s are usually the last big chunk of time you can do this without serious consequences– it’s nearly expected at this point. But what really has to be said is that as much as this is your chance to choose your life, this is your time to decide what you choose. 2. You can also choose to take your first steps in freedom. You can claim that your financial restraints prevent you from moving out, moving on, whatever it is you most deeply want, but I promise you, there is always a way, even if it means 5 roommates and 3 part-time jobs. The only way you can’t is if you

Why You Shouldn’t Fall In Love With Your Best Friend

Image
They say friendship break-ups are worse than actual, romantic break-ups. What’s worse than friendship break-ups though is a friendship break-up with your best friend with whom you have fallen in love with. Falling in love with one’s best friend is one of the trickiest situations one could find one’s self to be in. See this person is the same person you tell everything to. This person knows your dreams and the dirtiest secrets of your past. They know the financial problems your family are going through and the internal conflicts between aunts and uncles. This person stayed up till the wee hours of the morning to comfort you when you were still trying to get over your past love. This person was the one who constantly reminded you that to be happy, you need to sacrifice what you want for what you deserve. This person doesn’t only know you, they see you. This person was the one you brought along in family reunions and friends’ parties and they didn’t mind because they knew who they

What You Need To Know Before You Hurt Her

Man, cannot live on bread alone, and neither can a woman live on excuses. I never asked the earth to sprout rose bushes in winter, I never asked an apple tree to fruit strawberries, and I never begged you to give me the world. Respect, honesty, integrity, and time with pretzels and giggles in between, are all that any person needs from another. It’s seems obvious right?! Clearly not, obvious enough. Shame on you and shame on the entire system of fundamental requirements within the map of personhood. A woman, does not come in pieces or jars, she is not free like the air and she is not yours to take without giving in return. If you choose her, then you choose all of her, not the bits you like and leave behind what you don’t like. You cannot just ignore the parts you don’t want to give attention to and think that it’s cool. You can run away, if you want when the going gets tough, but when you want to come, forget it. She comes with a price, and this price tag is too much for your l
