- A youth group, Advocates for Collective Transformation and Youth Empowerment Initiative (ACT), has lamented over the Xenophobic attacks in South Africa
- They stated that young Nigerians in South Africa are the major victim of the attacks
- The group called on the United Nations (UN) and the Africa Union (AU) to intervene immediately
A youth group, Advocates for Collective Transformation and Youth Empowerment Initiative (ACT), has lamented over the Xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

The Xenophobic attacks in South Africa has continued unabated this past week
They stated that young Nigerians in South Africa are the major victim of the attacks even as they called on the UN and the AU to intervene immediately.
The group in a press statement signed by its national president, Dr Oluwatayo Fashogbon and national secreatery, Ifetoluwa Ajayi said ‎it will ‎approach the United Nations Security Council to demand that the UN immediately takes diplomatic measures and military measures to put an end to the serial xenophobic attacks against Nigerians and other black Africans.
Fashogbon said various international charters allowed immigrants to live lawfully in country of residences.
"While we condemn the attack on our people in South Africa, we should not reciprocate with violence but explore all legal and lawful options to get justice for Nigerians in South Africa," he said.
Fashogbon also called on the Nigerian government to take extra-diplomatic measures in dealing with the latest deadly assaults.
The group urged the Nigerian government to immediately order the closure of the High Commission of the Republic of South Africa in Lagos and Abuja and cut all diplomatic ties with the country until the safety of Nigerians residing in the country is guaranteed.‎
Meanwhile, following several attacks on Nigerians by South Africans, Nigerians in South Africa have allegedly taken up arms to defend themselves.
Reports from South Africa say Nigerians have taken up arms in self defense against protesters who are reportedly marching against the continuous stay of Nigerians and other Africans in the country.

I have not defected from PDP, says Atiku

Atiku Abubakar Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said that he is still in the Peoples Democratic Party, urging his followers to disregard a rumor that he has defected to another party. Atiku, who defected from PDP to the All Progressives Congress in 2014, but returned to the PDP early this year, asked his supporters to ignore the rumour.
