You Are Beautiful The Way You Are
In high school, there was a standard for being pretty, some people believed that those who cut their hair or had an army hair-do were not considered pretty. People who plaited their hair and had long flowing hair might have been interpreted as being pretty, it gets worse when those girls are approached by guys and the ones with the buzz cuts are not.
This is doesn't stop in high school, it goes on to college, seeing all the pretty girls can make someone with already low self-esteem can become depressed, insecure, jealous of every single girl they see. While some might think this stops after you are in a relationship, it really doesn't.
There have been numerous music videos that portray how girls are "meant" to look like. They either show really skinny women or women have big butts or big breast and expect you to emulate them. This isn't right and you don't have to follow them.
There are Instagram models that are praised and loved because of how they look or dress, people might say this is how every girl should look like or this is the standard of girls they like. All these cause depression as you probably have to try your hardest to look like them when it's not needed.
Some of the new standards which this generation has made for themselves is one of the leading causes of suicide, depression, and bulimia. Not being able to meet up with the standards others have made, causes depression as you see yourself as someone that is not worthy to be in the same place as the these"beautiful" people.
This will continue until you decide to believe that you are beautiful the way you are. Your partner chose you, not any other person, because he or she loves you for you, not because of the length of your hair.
We were created the way we were for a reason and it must have been a good one too. During Sunday school, we are taught that we are created in Gods image. It is safe to say that God is the most beautiful person ever so if we look just like Him that means we are all beautiful even if we are; fat or slim, extra short or extra tall, using glasses or whatever feature that makes you are insecure. It doesn't make you ugly or less perfect
Nobody is perfect even all the celebrities we follow today are not perfect, the only perfect being is God. Do people say you are too quiet? that's their business, not yours. Do they think you don't smile a lot? ask them is it their smile? Don't care about what others say, their opinions don't matter, the only thing that matters is your opinion and how beautiful you are.
We don't always need to be like someone or follow a particular trend on how to act or look, your style is cool just the way it is. We don't need people to tell us we have to look a certain way to be beautiful or interesting or popular, all we need to do believe in ourselves. A wise woman once said ” I am beautiful no matter what they say, words can't bring me down, we are beautiful in every single way”
